Contest: COOLMAX EcoMade Socks
Monday, December 13th, 2010
One of the major reasons that I race triathlons is because it gives me an excuse to spend as much time as I can outdoors, no matter what time of year.
I don’t have a gym membership because, while it may help me get fitter and faster, it is directly opposed to spending plenty of quality time out in nature.
The more I’ve gotten hooked on triathlon and endurance racing, the more of a green freak I’ve become. The outdoors is where I spend as much time as possible and it has become increasingly important to me to take care of it, especially over the last five years.
With all the gear, travel, nutrition involved in triathlon, it isn’t exactly the greenest sport out there, but I’ve tried to incorporate little eco-friendly changes into the regular choices. From ordering my First Endurance nutrition in bulk to eating as locally grown produce from the farmer’s market during the summer as I can, I figure every little bit helps.
That is why I was psyched when I heard that COOLMAX® is coming out with
a new fabric that is made of 97% recycled plastic bottles. Any percentage would be pretty impressive, but making athletic wicking socks almost completely out of used water bottles is pretty amazing.
I was psyched to get news from the folks at COOLMAX® that I’d be able to run a giveaway and share some of these new socks with you lovely folks. I’ve got a week’s worth of socks (7 pairs valued at over $100) to one lucky contest winner that I’ll announce next Tuesday.

Here are the ways for you to get an entry into the contest:
- Go to the COOLMAX® EcoMade site and find the sock brands that use their recycled fabric. Leave a comment on this post with one of them. (http://www.coolmaxecomade.com)
- Become a fan of Team Trakkers on Facebook. If you already are, that doesn’t count. Sorry. But you can get credit for inviting someone using the “suggest to friends” button on the Team Trakkers Facebook page. Once you do either of those, leave a comment here telling me.
- Publish a link to this blog post to Twitter. Leave a comment here telling me.
- Publish a link to this blog post to Facebook. Leave a comment here telling me.
- Publish a link to this blog post on your own site, announcing this contest. Leave a comment here telling me.
Good luck everyone!

Jamie, awesome post. I agree so much about being outside and enjoying the outdoors…and feeling more of responsibility to defend them. I’m eyeing up the Injinji socks myself….
Hey Jamie,
I freaking love my Injinjis! Only socks I wear for running. And you can wear them with 5 fingers if it’s cold. Been a Trakker fan for ages but just posted the link on FB.
Timberland uses the technology. I suggested Trakkers to friends and I posted on facebook. Will twitter later
Hey Jamie
Nice contest… Timberland uses the brand. Cross my fingers!!
Hey Jamie,
Count me in. Defeet is one of the brands that uses the Coolmax Eco made technology (my favorite of those brands). I suggested team trakkers to two tri geek friends as I am already a fan. I posted the link on FB. I am not on twitter or have my own page, so that was it for me. Thanks!
